It's not a shiny modern hotel - and that's exactly what makes it special. Complete with art from the time that the building was a school, Solhov transports you to a wholesome bygone era. Solhov is a historical school building that has been turned into accommodation. The building is almost 100 years old! The rooms have character that reflect the history but with essential modern facilities (wifi is available) and very comfy beds. Our room had a lovely view over the water and we spent a good couple of hours sitting in front of the cozy fireplace in the dining room. The owners are very welcoming and offer great advice for activities in the area, as well as guided fat bike, kayak, and snowshoe tours. They also served us delicious local food, some of which was organic and came from their own farm! For those who want to cook, there is a well-equipped kitchen. We had a wonderful weekend at Solhov and it was a delight to learn about the history of the building and the area. Prices are very fair and on par with accommodation costs elsewhere in Norway. Check out their website for more information.

Solhov is the best and the nature around is just breathtaking.
Solhov was amazing, the hosts are so nice and it felt like I was staying with family. We rented snowshoes from them and hiked with them up to the skihytte, they gave us insider tips on where to go to view the northern lights, and we had two meals with them where we learned so much about Norwegian culture. I would definitely recommend that everyone stay here!
A hidden gem in Lyngen: The Hotel used to be a boarding school and is now carefully restored by the owners. It truly is the castle of the Lyngen Alps and a place worth visiting.
We had a great stay at Solhov. The house is historic and beautiful. its hard to heat up an old wooden building like Solhov so it is a bit cold but they give you wool slippers which helps a lot. Don't know if I have encountered a better service from owners any other place!
Solhov is a beautiful historical building, now functioning as a B&B. It is nestled between the Lyngen Alps and the fjord and is a good base for all sorts of outdoor and sports activities. I especially enjoyed hiking up the mountain path that starts right behind the building to experience and photograph the northern lights at a hidden and perfectly reflective lake - the Lyngenfjord is extremely scenic with many hidden gems. The owners are very friendly people, who know everything about the area and did make an effort to make it a nice stay, I even got to rent out a kayak to circle the small island in the fjord, which is a natural reserve, where rare eagles nest. After hiking to the cozy mountain huts nearby, one of my highlights was to attend a bonfire BBQ and to relax in a hot tub filled with glacier water right at the shore while observing some small whales, which sometimes did pass right off shore. Northern Norway offers such mazing nature and wildlife! My room did have a view of the water and mountains, there was a generous and fully equipped kitchen and a nice lounge area to read. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here. It apparently only started being a guesthouse, still being somewhat of a insider tip to enjoy the nature in peace.
outstanding place, with a splendid view and some wonderful hike in the surrounding. Deserves a visit.
The room was big enough and the bed was extremely good. The whole house was lovely oldfashioned style and there was a historical atmosphire.
