Svolvær was a breathtaking experience. It felt like you could touch the ocean.

We are family with 4 young children (8,5,3 years old and 8-months old baby) Although it is small airport, it's quite easy to navigate and helpful for us to find taxi and claim baggage. Once your plane touched down at Svolvaer Airport, you will be entering small gate at the airport. The baggage claim area would be open after all passengers has entered the airport. It is just next to the entering gate. To get taxi, you will be given number and just wait for the taxi to come. Waiting area at the front is quite cosy with lovely mountain view. If you need carseat for kids, the taxi will provide. Or you can let the airport personnel know in advance. We really appreciate our experience at Svolvaer Lufthavn. They are very helpful. There's also toilet available here.

One of the smallest and one of the best airport I've ever been to. Airport staff is welcoming and helpful. My friend had lost the cap of his Canon camera objective and the airport staff remembered he carried a camera, looked up his name and reached out to him on facebook. We were really surprised by how much the crew cared for passengers. Big thanks to them. In fact, even the local pilots and air stewards were super nice and happy to share tips about the region. I flew on a Widerøe propeller-aircraft; I think the aircraft was a Havilland DHC 8 series 100. Best flying experience as a passenger ever.

Small tiny airport, just a small building, parking is even bigger than airport building. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by 2-3 car rental staff in the hallway. Friendly staff, fast baggage collection.

Small, really small... But it is soooo cute! And the experience of landing here! In the Lofoten Islands. No words.Spectacular views. Besides, people at the airport was helpful and smiling.

Really small airport, looks cool for the novelty of how tiny and unsophisticated it is. If you show up for your flight more than 30-45 minutes early it will appear closed- the security are will be blocked off and no one will be there for bags, etc. So take your time and don’t arrive too early. I was there about 2 years ago and everyone was very polite and professional. My last visit passing through, however, was very different. Everyone was very belligerent and rude. The type where before you even have a chance to finish saying hello, they’re already barking orders at you. Even simple things like passing through security or having your bags weighed and tagged are painful now. Perhaps I caught the staff after they had an extremely stressful day but they seemed like they had it out for everyone before they even opened their mouths and even simple inquiries were met with blank stares of confusion or angry responses. The best way I can explain it was as if everyone was on their first day of their respective jobs or like they all rotated positions and were doing jobs they didn’t know how to do. Everyone I dealt with were from Wideroe airlines. I’m not sure if any other companies use this airport but they are the only employees I’ve ever personally dealt with there aside from security. There were a few issues through security (mostly small airport quirks) but they were a breeze compared to the Wideroe employees. When LAX seems like a luxury experience in comparison, you know something is going on. But since they are your only option for entering Lofoten unless you use a ferry or fly to a different airport (Leknes, etc) this review wont really make any difference. I’d suggest better training and education but I’m assuming their pool for hiring is pretty small in such a small city, and they have to just fill positions with anyone they can. I may have just caught them at a time where they had to resort to the bottom of their resume piles.

Stopped at this airport before heading to Leknes. Really small airport with a single runway for take off and landing! Beautiful views from the top. So make sure you have the window seat and not near the wings!
