I travelled recently to Tromsø for around a week, and so had on my list to drop into the tourist office; to find it closed. I'm not sure if it is just a result of the reduced travel activity from corona restructions, but was surprised to find it closed. It seems (at least currently) that they are only open from Monday to Friday, and only relative short hours on those days. In contrast to many other tourist offices I have visited around the world, there also didn't seem to be a lot of individual brochures for different places as I looked through the windows, so I didn't rush back.

Just like any tourist information centre, this is the place to be if you need any info. The staff here are very friendly and helpful, they can help you to book any tour if needed. This visitor centre is very modern, they have some touch screens console for you to search for the info you needed. The souvenirs and gifts sold here are very good quality, worth to buy. However, you can only find booklets/info about the Troms region here, not other regions.
Friendly and helpful personnel. They could speak English, Norwegian, German, Japanese and most likely much more. Through the information desk, a huge variety of activities can be booked. For example: dog sledding or Northern lights chase. Ice climbing etc. The shop features awesome tourist gifts. Including post cards and stamps.

We were in Tromsø last week. We bought a tour from Visit Tromsø's website for a city walk on the 1st of August. But nobody was there. We visited office to ask for a refund. But they said we are just a bridge and they didn't help us. I can say that they are untrustable.
Such a lovely town to start your northern lights adventure.
