NTNU Samfunnsforskning (NTNU Social Research) is one of Norway’s largest research institutes within applied social sciences. Our research addresses issues related to welfare and marginalisation, human development, mental health, as well as topics related to innovation in organisations, trade and industries. We collaborate closely with related research groups at NTNU (the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway) and are located next to the university campus at Dragvoll, Trondheim. Our activities are distributed across five research units: Studio Apertura conducts organisational research on themes such as organisational innovation, technological changes and working life, and safety and security. Diversity and Inclusion (Mangfold og inkludering) conducts research on social welfare, in particular related to groups at risk of marginalisation. Central topics are immigration, disability, child welfare and education. Human Development (Oppvekst og utvikling) conducts research on children’s psycho-social development with particular emphasis on their mental health, social development and competence. CIRiS - Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Space – conducts research and development related to human spaceflight, biology and technology. Human dependability and the synergies between Space Closed Life Support Systems and controlled agriculture are central themes. NAPHA – Norwegian Resource Center for Community Mental Health – is responsible for dissemination and outreach activities to professionals in community services for adults with mental health difficulties. NTNU Social Research has a multi-disciplinary profile and a staff of researchers with backgrounds in the social sciences, natural sciences, technology and humanities. We work across research units where this gives synergies.
