Gives you an in depth look at how people lived in rural western Norway from the sixteenth century thru the early twentieth century. Staff are super friendly and offer guided tours on the hour every hour. Buildings are fairly well preserved and there are a lot of buildings and artifacts to see. Allow for 1-1.5 hours for a visit.

Original buildings, well preserved with lots of information. Also, the staff is very friendly, eager to respond to any questions.
As the descendents of Norwegian farmers this museum was very special to us. It is very interesting to see what farm life was like in the mid-1800s. What makes this even better is that your busses do not make it up the narrow road, very nice to not be overrun with pushy rude tour groups.
What an amazing place! We got here after Flam, seriously disappointed with the intensely touristic approach of the region. But the woman in charge was so warm and friendly and genuinely welcoming it made us love Norway all over again! Each house has a different aspect and era to get into. Well worth the visit, nice location too to have a pic nic while overlooking the lake.
The museum is very nice and I really recommend to visit it. We had a guided tour and the young lady was very nice, she told us many interesting things.
Must visit it.
Interesting to see how people used to live
A nice museum about living in Voss before 1900. There is an entire old farm and an exhibition with much small attributes. There is not much text but the important things are short explained which makes the story easy to follow. Also a tour is given around the farm. There is also an interesting exhibition about the extreme sports in and around Voss
