Really interesting place to visit with kids! And also the adults will enjoy it as well. It’s full of knowledge and really hyper realistic stuff! The first floor like when you enter it’s for geology and human, little bit of sea information but the second floor is where the most animals are Also the ground floor is where you can put your jacket and personal stuff in a small closet.

Very clean, well layed-out museum featuring model boats, photos, videos, boats and information about Norway's maritime life. Interesting, quiet and thoughtful.

Definitely recommend. Spend a couple of hours here during some rainy weather. Watch the Viking video, in past the bathrooms, 22.mins long

Great museum throwing a light on Bergen's commercial shipping culture the types of boats and vessels, the life of sailors and their families. There are some interesting usage of oil spills to pacify the waves or the usage of artefacts by the family to indicate the presence or absence of the sailors.

This was an interesting museum visit. We were relieved that the staff warned us at the ticket desk about the film because it was interesting on Viking burials, but does contain some adult themes that we didn't let our eleven year old see. The rest of the museum was variable. Some exhibits provided detailed interpretive material, but some did not.

Lots of models of boats! Not the most modern museum, but there's a replica of a Viking ship and a good area for children to play in.
