Amazing museum that absolutely ropes you in with tons of interactive exhibits and interesting content. I love the model boat driving where 2 people can drive little model boats in a pond with a realistic boat throttle and it uses free tokens from the front desk. There's also a lovely harbor time lapse that you can easily scroll through for the past 2 years. Overall, this museum is a must see on the peninsula.
Pretty cool Museum! So many boats to look at. There is a lot of history to learn about and it's all free with the Oslo Pass. In direct vicinity with two other museums as well, both free too. The staff are nice and friendly. The gift shop is lacking, but it's the museum that matters. Definitely a cool place!
Large Maritime Museum. Wasn’t really on the list to do, but bought the discounted ticket to do the 3 museums at this location. It is impressive, and covers a few levels of the building. Also I had never heard of Sally Jones, but there you go, a whole little section.
What an amazing place. So much history of a pioneering people all in one place. Highly recommended
The exhibits in the museum on coast culture and maritime history cover many subjects including ship building, boat models, fishing, marine archeology, and shipping. The video "Maritime Norway" by Ivo Caprino and a library are also a part of the museum experience. Additionally the museum has a marine archaeological department. The museum also displays a collection of more than 40 maritime paintings by notable artists. Highly recommended!
Such a rich Maritime History in Norway. The Museum was actually bigger and more interesting then I thought. Worth a look for sure
Quietest and arguably the most Informative in the widest array of ship knowledge out of all the 3 museums located in this area. Lots of models from many points in history. The 18 min film in the basement was a great plus to the experience. The exhibits are well designed, organized and has interactive elements too.
