Beautiful place, I did need Google to find my way back
Norway...if you never been here I really recommend to visit this country. We are in south-west into the Rogaland county, Sandnes council. Enjoying your view.
Nice, spacious parking, long trails to stroll while watching trees, flowers and other plants. Very impressive Rhododendron collection - beautiful when flowering season sets in!
Beautiful place for a walk or a picnic.
Arboretum is a very good park. Especially for a trip with your family. It is very nice at summer, when the flowers blossom. There are a few lakes and many tracks where you can go. The Rogaland Arboret is less than 30 minutes from Stavanger. It's a good-sized park with quite a number of native and non-native species of trees and shrubs. None are huge or very old. I love any arboretum and this was no exception. It turns out that native trees of the Pacific Northwest portion of the U.S. are well represented here: grand fir, noble fir, Pacific silver fir, black cottonwood, etc. Plus many species from Japan and other cold temperate zones. I assume this arboretum is maintained by volunteers ... and I thank them for their hard work. The educational value could be improved if more signs were added showing the common and scientific names of the trees. (There are some signs. I wish there were more.) Also, it would benefit guests if the signs had more information, such as where the tree is native. It would be helpful if indigenous Norwegian trees were labeled as well. (I saw a few trees labeled but not many.) Nevertheless, I'm aware that arboretums are expensive and difficult to maintain, so I appreciate the wonderful collection. There are whole hillsides of rhododendrons. I'm sure this place is spectacular in April-May. And it looks good for jogging any time of year.
Fantastic place for a walk or a small picnic of weekend day, especially in a spring or summer. Many different trees and rhododendrons to gaze at, plenty of grass to lay a blanket for some food and some lawn games. Very clean place. The paths are wide enough to go with the stroller, however some of the paths might be challenging for small wheels. The admistristration and cafe is under renovation until spring 2018. Enough parking space, but on a sunny and warm day it could still be a problem finding a spot there. Parking costs 20 Nok for a whole day, payments by cards and cash accepted. No options to pay by apps (EasyPark for example) so far.
Best place for walking and cycling .....
