We went here in order to catch the fjord ferry from Gudvangen via Sognefjord so we did the journey in the opposite direction from that stated in the title. We were supposed to have lunch in Gudvangen in what was basically a tourist/souvenir shop with a restaurant attached to cater for expectant ferry-goers. The viking theme and the longboat outside really topped off the cool, yet slightly tacky theme, but it was all good. However the set lunch of vegetable soup and meatballs was surprisingly very good, and despite initial impressions, filling too. We had an hour or so to kill before the ferry and took advantage of the spectacular surroundings to use our time well. The valleys at either end of the Gudvangen Fjord are breathtaking, and the Viking boat and statue added something else to our wait. The ferry ride was spectacular - everything you can imagine about Norwegian fjords was reinforced and/or surpassed. Amazing scenery and such an efficient service

Worth the price. Much better than taking a fjord boat from Flam. The crew was very nice and narrated part of the trip.A must when visiting the fjords!

The ferry is OK, too much people and you must seat in plastic chairs, very expensive for what is it. For the other hand the fjord is very beautiful and it worth to see the landscape.

Wonderful scenery! The ferry takes about 2 hours each way. There are two outdoor decks available, with tables and chairs, as well as indoor seating.

Basic ferry. No announcements of scenic area. Airconditioning inside, grab a chair for outside or you'll be standing all day. Very basic kiosk so bring your own refreshments. Reasonable price for a car and 4 passengers

This ferry ride passed some wonderful scenery. More waterfalls than you can poke a stick at... The interior of the ferry was warm which was much appreciated each time I came in from the deck. The ferry also has a small cafe on board. Cheers

Great views of the mountains along the fjords! Our guide did say this was the best weather he has seen for this trip. Dry weather meant that many waterfalls were dry which should make it even better.
